This summer, ASB, with the help of Presentation PR director Amy Pizarro, launched a student blog. Here the ASB leaders can write about anything from school activities to new movies. You can access it at www.presentationasb.blogspot.com.

The Voice: How did the idea of the blog first get started?

Amy Pizarro: I was looking at the website last year and trying to think of ways to make it more interesting and more exciting. The best thing I thought of was to find a way to put more students on the website to get more snapshots of the student life. I then thought, wouldn’t it be cool if we could have a blog and put it on the homepage.

The Voice: Why did you decide to have students run the blog?

AP: I really wanted to get that essence of student life up on the website. I figured ASB would be a good place to start because they’re the leaders on campus; they know about the events, they know what they want to promote, and they’re a good snapshot of Pres as a whole.

The Voice: What do you like most about the blog?

AP: Anything students write is better than what we can produce. They have so much energy and so much excitement about the things going on here. I love that the topics can be about anything. As students, they can relate to the student body about the most random things and that’s something I can’t produce from behind my desk. So I love that it’s real students’ energy. You guys are what it’s all about. Anything from you is going to feel more genuine.

The Voice: What do you think the future of the blog is going to be?

AP: I think it’s going to evolve into something that’s more of a conversation between students and the people writing it. I think it would be cool to have more pictures of stuff around campus. And I hope that the comments pick up a little bit. The traffic’s great, there are around 700 hits already [as of September 31st]. People are definitely looking at it but the next step for a blog is to get a dialogue started.
