The first day back at school always brings jitters, but it also represents the chance for a fresh start. Here’s what Pres girls had to say about returning to school on Monday:
“It’s nice to be back and see everyone and just get back into the norm. We just have to stick it out for our last year!” – Nicole Shay, senior.
“I’m just really excited to walk down the halls knowing I’m not a freshman anymore. I think this year will be fun not having to be the youngest on campus.” – Jamie Brannan, sophomore.
“I expected to have more homework than I was assigned. English was my favorite class because my teacher was lively and nice, and English is one of my favorite subjects.” – Chloe Ainley, freshman.
“It feels good being a junior, but it also seems stressful. Advanced art was my favorite class so far because of the small class sizes that offer more individual attention, which allows students to express more of their creativity.” – Cherie Kwok, junior.
“I like sitting in the chairs [at mass]. It is so much more comfortable because it had a back rest. That really helps when sitting for an hour.” – Katia Naffa, junior.
“It feels different being older. All of a sudden no one is staring. I like not being the lowest grade of our school. I feel more in tune with the school and how things go.” – Elizabeth Cardenas, sophomore.
“The best part about my first day was getting the ‘view from the top’…especially watching all the freshmen in mass just looking a bit confused. But even though I never find the first day of school fun at all, I’m totally excited to be a senior. It sort of feels like we’ve made it… having worked so hard for going on four years, it feels like an accomplishment already.” – KC Hamm, senior.
“I had fun my first day but this school is pretty big compared to my other one, which was only about fifty kids per grade…and here there are at least 200 in my class alone! It’s different, for sure.” – Shauna Etchison, freshman.
“I’m looking forward to working in Film and Media—I want to pursue a career in directing later in life.” – Rae Kuhlmann, junior.
“It feels good to be back because I missed all of my friends over the summer.” – Vanessa Miranda, junior.
“I want to make it through the year with minimal senioritis. I’ll try to not let all the excitement affect my grades… [but] I’m already stressed and have homework! It’s like, back to reality.” – Jacquelynn Besse, senior.
