Typically, teenagers use Sunday mornings as a time to sleep in. But on September 13, Presentation girls woke up early to spend quality time with their mothers at the annual Mother Daughter Breakfast.

The Mother Daughter Breakfast is a special event at Presentation that occurs each year where the students bring their mothers while the fathers serve them a variety of foods.

The morning started off with a mass to thank God for the relationships students have with their moms. Some of the girls gave speeches about how their mom has changed their life and how grateful they are for them. This touched many of the people who were instantly captivated by the stories. Tissues were passed around to wipe away the tears.

Kelly Doudell, a senior at Pres, gave a very impacting speech that left the whole community emotional. “I always wanted to give a speech because I wanted to inspire others to love their mother,” Doudell said afterward. “I wanted to tell others about how close I am with my mom. It’s hard to think that this is my last Mother Daughter Breakfast as a Pres student.”  Afterwards, breakfast was served and soon devoured.

Lianne Vazquez, a freshman, said of her first Mother Daughter breakfast, “My mom and I grew a lot closer today after listening to the stories that were told. I am definitely coming back again next year.”
