Boy Brains vs. Girl Brains

In a world of over six billion people, there are two different kinds of people: men and women. Sounds simple right? Well, that is absolutely incorrect. The brains of men and women are made almost identically, but the things that go through their minds are unbelievably different. Sometimes, it seems that all men are programmed to think one thing, while all women are programmed to think a completely different thing. In an amateur experiment, The Voice tested to see if the minds of high school boys and girls can be as predictable as one would think. Below are scenarios given to four boys and four girls. Although the questions were read exactly the same, their answers could not differ more.

Scenario #1

You just lost your sports game that would have launched your team into the championship. What do you want to do to get your mind off the situation?

Boy #1: I would see my girlfriend or at least talk to her

Boy #2: I would want to hang out with friends

Boy #3: I think I would just want to sleep

Boy #4: I would probably just sleep

Girl #1: I would go out and have a fun night with friends

Girl #2: I think I would just go hang out with my friends

Girl #3: I would definitely go see my friends

Girl #4: I would want to be with my friends

Analyze: It is obvious that boys and girls have different ways of controlling their sadness. Many boys prefer to be more reflective on what happened while girls try to get right over it. Girls rely on others such as their friends to feel comfort while boys seem to isolate themselves from all people.

Scenario #2

You see a girl walking down the street in an extremely short skirt, a shirt exposing her stomach, high heels and perfectly long straightened hair. She seems to be strutting and tossing her hair. What is the first thing you think?

Boy #1: Either she is a skank or she is hot

Boy#2: Is she hot? It really depends

Boy #3: Damn.

Boy #4: Damn.

Girl #1: You try too hard

Girl #2: You are gross

Girl #3: Ew, what is she doing?

Girl #4: Gross, stop trying so hard

Analyze: Boys have a natural tendency to analyze many of the girls they see. Even when they have another girl in their life, they seem to not be able to help looking at different girls. On the other hand, girls hate seeing other girls trying to show off. In fact, as you can see, they can’t stand it. Girls do not like to see others trying to get attention.

Scenario #3

You just went on your first date with a really attractive girl or boy. What is your plan to find out if they enjoyed themselves and if they want a second date?

Boy #1: I would text them and bluntly ask if they had a good time. Guys are blunt. I would describe to them how I thought it went.

Boy #2: I wouldn’t talk to her because if she enjoyed it and wanted a second date, then she would come to me.

Boy #3: I think I would get the feeling if she did or didn’t have a good time by the way she seemed to express herself. I’m pretty good at reading people.

Boy #4: I would just text her and ask.

Girl #1: I would have his best friend ask if he had a good time

Girl #2: I would ask his best friend

Girl #3: I would ask my friend to ask him for me

Girl #4: I would wait to see if he calls or texts me. That means he is interested

Analyze: It seems that we have been taught that boys are supposed to take initiative in situations relating to dating or marriage. They feel stress to know if they are good enough. Boys seem to figure out situations themselves rather than turning to someone for help. On the other hand, girls seem to like receiving immediate answers. Rather than just waiting for the boy to text them (and they are pretty sure they will,) they turn to other sources to get their information. Girls know how to use their social networks to get the answers they want.

Scenario # 4

You have to choose between working out, hanging with your friends or going on a date with the person you like. Which one will it be?

Boy #1: Go on a date with the person I like

Boy #2: Work out, that’s just more important to me

Boy #3: Go on a date with the person I like

Boy #4: Go on a date with the person I like

Girl #1: Hang out with friends

Girl #2: Hang out with friends

Girl #3: Hang out with friends

Girl #4: Work out

Analyze: Most boys seem to go “gaga” for girls. They have a natural tendency to impress girls and put them first in their lives. Only one boy chose to work out, which puts friends in the gutter for boys. Inversely, girls would do anything for their friends. They put them first in their lives as much as possible. One girl did choose to work out, but did not choose a date. In this way, it seems girls kick guys to the curb.

Scenario #5

You forget a book at school that you need for tonight’s homework. Do you drive back to school to get it, wake up and go to school early to do it, mooch off a friend or not do it at all?

Boy #1: I would just do it in another class

Boy #2: If it was important, I would get it off a friend. If it wasn’t, I wouldn’t do it at all

Boy #3: I would end up doing it in the morning, but only if I feel like it

Boy #4: I just wouldn’t do it

Girl #1: I would do it in the morning depending on how important it was

Girl #2: I would drive back to school to get it

Girl #3: I would just get it off a friend

Girl #4: I would do it when I got to school

Analyze: From this question, we can see that boys do not necessarily put their schoolwork first. Maybe they prioritize their sports, girlfriends or TV time, but it is definitely not their homework! Girls, on the other hand, seem to have more of a commitment to their homework. Even if they don’t do it themselves, all of them pledge to get it done some way or another.

Scenario #6

What is the most crucial ingredient for you when getting up to go out? (Besides the obvious shower) (Item, step to getting ready i.e. mascara, cologne)

Boy #1: Clean clothes that I’m comfortable in

Boy #2: Brushing my teeth

Boy #3: The type of clothes I wear

Boy #4: Deodorant

Girl #1: My mascara

Girl #2: Makeup

Girl #3: Mascara

Girl #4: Eye lash curler

Analyze: Boys care most about good hygiene and looking good for their date. All the extras like cologne are saved until the end and used if there is time. Girls seem to care more about fixing their faces. This may be a way that they feel confident in themselves. When asked this question, they all immediately answered without hesitation.
