Cori Jaques, Sports Editor

Cori Jaques is currently a senior and serving as a second year Sports Editor on the The Voice. In addition to writing for the newspaper, she also plays for the Varsity field hockey and soccer teams here at Presentation. When she isn’t doing homework or treading turf, she can be found scooping ice cream at Baskin Robbins. In her free time, or lack thereof, she enjoys hanging out with friends, shopping, and constructing life-size renditions of reptiles of the jurassic era from legos.

Sarah Zajac

Sarah is currently a junior at Presentation High School and strives to continue playing soccer on the Presentation soccer team for the third year. “Sare-bear” or “Zajac”, as she is known to be called on occasion, is a new member to the newspaper staff and is very excited to be able to publicly display her love for writing. Though she may seem quiet by first impression, she constantly seeks to make new friends and go out and about to experience new things. Sarah has many goals on her bucket list that prove her spontaneity, such as skydiving, attending a World Cup game anywhere in the world, and to race on a NASCAR race track. She usually finds herself being very open to ideas, activities, and even music. Sarah tends to always find a passion for at least one artist in different genres. Her favorite genres include pop, alternative rock, and rap. Unlike most people, she has a strong love for country music. On campus, Sarah is part of the cooking club and new member to Panther Pride.

Marie-Claire Guidoux, Co-Managing Editor

Marie-Claire Guidoux is a senior at Pres and
returning this year for her second term on The
Voice
staff.  She is extremely
excited, as co-managing editor this year, to get the school year started and
the first news issue released.  You may
also spot her name in other places around campus, as she is the PR intern and
one of the CI officers this year.  She
also plays Varisty field hockey and soccer for Pres.
In her non-existent free time, she likes to go for a run, shop, and
read.  She loves to meet new people, so
please go up to her or e-mail her with any comments, suggestions, concerns, or
ideas for the website or the newspaper.

Caitlin Conlin

In elementary school, writing was not a favorite subject for Caitlin; it was actually the most hated. It wasn’t until junior year when she began to really put underlying meaning in the words she wrote. At Pres, Caitlin has swum on the swim team all three years and will be again this year.. She loves to hang out with friends and spend time with her family. To say she is obsessed with her pets is an understatement and she isn’t afraid to admit it. She is a Co-president for her class level in National Charity League and looks forward to the many challenges that will bring her. Caitlin loves math and it has always come easy for her. In college she plans to put her geometry skills to the test and major in architecture and minor in interior design. This is her first year as a member of The Voice and she is excited to see how her writing progresses in the next year.

Jacqueline Gill

Jacqueline Gill is returning for her second year on The Voice staff as the Senior Community Editor.  After spending her junior year routinely updating Presentation’s newspaper website, Jacqueline has many ideas to expand The Voice online.

The skills that she has acquired through writing on the school’s newspaper have led Jacqueline to consider majoring in Journalism in college.  If she were to become a professional journalist, her dream job would be to travel the world reporting for Time Magazine or National Geographic.  But before she gets too carried away, she should probably start her college applications.

Shruti Swaminathan

You have, quite accidentally, one would  hope, happened upon the secret identity of Gotham’s newest Dark Knight. Shruti likes to write by day and save innocent civilians from the horrors of humanity at night, often with writing utensils and disposable camera in hand. She likes to think she can draw, something that amuses her to no end, and she constantly draws her friends pictures, whether they are worthy of circulation or not. She plays piano when she is bored and often sings along to songs outside of Choir, where she is known for her ability to put her heart and soul into both singing and goofing off. She started off writing by making historical utopias in the second or third grade. She wrote one about Daniel Boone that impressed her teacher way too much, now that she reads over it. Shruti has been published four times in anthologies and is now tackling the task of learning to write poems. Her other interests include watching trains late at night, NOVA, Batman, anything DC related, writing long novels with Jenna Stroup, Big Bang Theory and How I Met Your Mother, which you can often find her watching on slow Sunday afternoons. Slow Sunday afternoons when there’s no one to be saved, of course.

Corina Martinez

Corina is a junior as Presentation High School. As a new member of The Voice staff, she is ready to learn the ropes and excited for a new year. Corina loves Social Justice topics and went on two services trips last year to the Central Valley and Los Angeles.  In her spare time, Corina rides horse and hangs out with her friends. Since Corina goes to an all-girls school, she spends most of her time outside of school with her boyfriend or with her best guy friends. She is also addicted to Facebook, Starbucks, and texting.  However, family and education are a priority in Corina’s life. She loves to travel and meet new people. Her dream vacation would be in Latin America.

Jenna Stroup

Salutations. You have come upon a wild Jenna Stroup. She enjoys a good sparring match, especially if it involves light sabers. Social deviation is a daily occurrence when in her presence. She is not mainstream, she is the entire river. Jenna loves reading comics and finds the DC reboot disastrous and subject of one of her many rants. Most of her writing is creative and she has spent her entire life writing an epic novel that will probably never get published. She started to write when she was in kindergarten, although the topic back then was Pokémon. Jenna believes that every fantasy is an alternate reality and that everything the mind can create exists somewhere in this wonderful universe. Roleplaying, writing short stories, social networking, and costuming are all hobbies she pursues. Writing is one of the biggest motivations in her life and she hopes to learn new facts, improve her skills, and grow every day.

Isha Salian

Isha Salian is excited to be exploring her love of English in a new way by joining the Voice staff. A junior at Pres, she is passionate about Indian classical dance, and spends nearly all of her spare time in dance classes. When not doing schoolwork or dancing, Isha can be found reading (or rereading) fantasy novels such as Harry Potter or classics like Gone with the Wind. She is also a PAC Officer and part of the International Cultures Club. Keen to experience being a part of the school newspaper, Isha can’t wait to start writing!

Kailey Daniels, Advertising/Budget Manager

Kailey Daniels is currently a junior at Presentation and this is her first year as a member of The Voice. She is very excited to be working as a member of staff and looks forward to being an active contributor. Kailey plays Varsity Soccer for Presentation, is an Event Planning Intern for Presentation’s Alumni Association, volunteers at Innvision homeless shelter, and is actively involved in campus life. When she is not studying she enjoys time with friends, collecting pictures of cats, and watching Modern Family and Glee. This summer Kailey worked as a coach teaching three-to seven-year old children soccer, basketball, and baseball. Next summer, Kailey plans to travel to South America to increase her knowledge of both the language and Latin culture. Kailey lives in San Jose with her parents and is looking forward to another year of taking over her brother’s room while he is back east attending college. Kailey is never at a loss for words and will use that talent to bring both informative and entertaining articles to The Voice.

Alexi Garofalo

Alexi is returning to Presentation High School as a junior where she is ready to take on another fun and challenging year at Presentation. As a first-year member on the Voice she is very eager to be a part of the 2011-2012 publications. Although she does not consider herself to be the best writer, she is prepared to put in her best effort to help contribute to the Voice.

Alexi is very outgoing and friendly, but there is another side to her which only a few people know, which is that she is a nerd who loves superheroes and Star Wars. When she is not watching nerdy movies, Alexi enjoys surfing, running, reading, paintballing, traveling, hiking and singing to the radio. While attending Presentation, she has been involved in track and field, swimming and diving; she cannot decide which sport she would like to dedicate herself to this year. Other activities she has tried in the past are soccer, figure skating, karate, and gymnastics which shows her determination to find a sport that would best fit her. During her free time, she plays the piano (and hopefully will start playing the cello), and she tries to find homeless cute fluffy animals a home and loves volunteering at Sacred Heart, Barbs race and the Vineman.  Barbs race is half a triathlon for women and the Vineman is a triathlon for men and women to help support cancer research.  In the future she hopes to find a profession in the field of sciences such as a behaviorist to help those with special needs or an anthropologist.  Alexi is very excited for her junior year at Presentation as well as learning and participating in the school newspaper.

Emily Carolin, Copy Editor

Emily Carolin is a senior at Pres and this is her second year on the newspaper. This year, she is looking forward to using that red pen as a copy editor. As a true Northeastern girl, she is fond of thunderstorms, snow, rain, and blizzards. When she is not found in the outdoors playing in the snow and rain, you will most likely find her inside, curled up in a squashy chair, reading with a mug of peppermint cocoa or watching “Masterpiece Theater” (the Jane Austen ones, of course).

Elizabeth Bernal

Elizabeth Bernal, Presentation High School senior, is excited to be a part of The Voice staff this year. Elizabeth loves getting involved in the Presentation community through many activities such as Theater, Community Involvement, Peer Ministry, Presentation Ambassadors Club, and the Math and Science Academy just to name a few. Elizabeth’s favorite activities are volunteering by tutoring students at Our Lady of Grace School and being a part of the Peer Ministry Core Team. Academically, her passion lies in the sciences, and she hopes next year to major in Biology and eventually find a career that will help make the world a better place. In her free time, Elizabeth enjoys reading, performing, spending time with friends and family, and creating science experiments. Her love of writing has been inspired by her favorite books which include To Kill a Mockingbird, Jane Eyre, Pride and Prejudice, and the Harry Potter series. In her first year with the Voice staff, Elizabeth hopes to write articles that will educate and inspire the community.

Ariana Cvitanic, Special Features Editor

Ariana Cvitanic (don’t feel bad, no one can pronounce it either) is a junior this year at Presentation High School and cannot wait to undertake the great task that is being a member of The Voice. Always ready to learn new things and meet new people, Ariana can be described as an enthusiastic and all around friendly person. When she is not doing school related work, she enjoys hanging out with friends, spending time with family, and doing community service. Ariana is a dedicated CI officer, and loves to do her best to make a difference. She is also a proud member of SEAS, CSF, and Peer Tutoring. Still undecided about her future, she hopes to find a career which includes traveling, writing, and helping others. Ariana is extremely excited for the year ahead and hopes to make the most of it!

Christina Pham, Reporter

Christina Pham is currently a junior at Presentation High School.  This is her first year as part of The Voice staff and she is very excited to start reporting due to her love for writing and journalism.  On campus, Christina is also involved in clubs such as Community Involvement, Mu Alpha Theta, CSF, Peer Tutoring, and SEAS.  She is actively involved and enjoys being apart of these clubs.  Outside of Presentation, Christina volunteers at various places including Sacred Heart Community Center, The Tech Museum, and her local church.  Other activities she participates in are swimming and dancing.  She loves doing both of these things because it helps take her mind off all worries and greatly relieves stress, especially during the busiest parts of the school year.  In her free time, Christina loves to be outdoors enjoying the fresh air by either going to the beach, camping, hiking, or just playing volleyball with a group of friends.  She also likes to relax by watching movies, listening to music, and spending time with family and friends.  She has also always loved traveling and is fascinated by world cultures and foreign languages.  One of Christina’s many goals in life is to travel as much as she can and visit every country in the world at least once.  Though this may seem almost impossible, she has met several others with similar dreams who have nearly reached success, inspiring her to not give up on her ambition.

Julia Gallo

Julia Gallo is a junior at Presentation High School and is excited to be involved in The Voice staff this year. Along with being on The Voice, Julia is on the golf and track and field teams at Presentation. She enjoys the challenge of being on teams at Presentation and likes their competitive nature. She also enjoys being a part of PAC and tutoring outside of school. She hopes to bring the same passion to the making of The Voice the best Presentation High School has ever seen. Julia hopes to dive into many different issues this year. She is passionate about political, medical, and women’s issues. She hopes to bring a fresh look into these topics and many more. Julia plans to shake things up and not write about the status quo like other average high school newspapers. She wants to create some controversy about different issues and get the student body debating about them. Julia looks forward to contributing to an exciting year on The Voice and feels it is a great honor to be a part of such a distinguished team.

Sara Muise, Features Editor

Sara Muise is a super stoked senior ready to take on another year of The Voice. She is excited to have an editor position this year as Features Editor, and can’t wait to explore the other sides of journalism such as layout and design. She loves Presentation and is certainly involved, serving as  an officer in both the Healthy Habits and the Community Involvement Club. She is also in Mu Alpha Theta and CSF and runs cross-country. She loves puppies and babies, shopping at Michaels, the beach, and spending time with her family and friends. In her extremely small amount of free time, she enjoys paining, listing to oldies records, and keeping her car unusually clean. She can’t wait to begin this year on The Voice staff.

Kate Pashby

Kate Pashby is a junior at Presentation High School. She is known mainly for her work in theater, which includes scene-writing, dancing, teching, and acting. Kate is also a proud member of Presentation’s improvisation team, Spontaneous Combustion. In her nonexistent spare time—not during English class—she writes short stories and draws pictures that have no relation to each other whatsoever.

Vineza Reduta

What do the words caring, friendly, passionate, optimistic and unique all have in common?  They describe first-time member of The Voice, Vineza Reduta, or as many people like to call her, “V”.  She is currently a junior at Presentation High School and is super excited to dive into the world of journalism.  She has been playing on Pres’ golf team ever since her freshman year and is involved in various campus clubs, such as PAC, International Cultures Club and Panther Pride.  Her favorite subjects are math and science.  During her spare time, she loves to bake her famous chewy brownies, go shopping, laugh with friends and family or catch up with the latest movies or hit TV shows.  In the future, she hopes to work with kids by becoming a pediatrician.

Olivia Proffit

All her life, Olivia has had a passion for writing in hopes that someday the world will get to read her work. Finally, as a junior at Presentation, her dream has come true. Olivia Proffit is extremely excited to be joining The Voice staff this year! In the future, she plans to become a journalist and knows that The Voice is a great way to start studying journalism. She would also like to travel the world because traveling is another passion of hers. She has already been to five countries and loves each one. Until then, she is going to enjoy her junior year by involving herself in school activities as much as possible. This year, she is hoping to join Presentation’s diving team and many clubs such as PAC and SEAS. When she is not at school or hanging out with friends, she is writing her own short stories and poems. One day, she hopes to publish a book. Olivia knows junior year is known to be the hardest year but is thrilled to finally be an upperclassman.

Amy Linehan

Amy Linehan is a junior at Presentation High School and is excited to be a part of The Voice this year.  When she is not talking or laughing, Amy is running for the cross-country and track teams at school. Amy is involved in
many clubs including Community Involvement, CSF and Leadership Academy. The past two years Amy has also been involved in Student Council, first as a homeroom rep and currently as a Class Officer. In her free time, Amy loves to watch Modern Family and hang out with her friends, family and her dog, Bernie.

At Pres she is also a member of PAC, Community Involvement and Speech and Debate.  She is looking forward to learning more about the production of the newspaper and spending another year with the Class of 2013!

Kathryn Stephan, Co-Managing Editor

Kathryn Stephan, known to her friends as “Katcy,” is a sassy senior who is extremely excited for her second year on The Voice staff. She enjoys sunsets, long walks on the beach, and clichés. She is involved in a number of clubs at Pres, including Peer Ministry, PAC, Liturgical Band, CSF, and Mu Alpha Theta. She is quite dedicated to Pres theatre—she is an International Thespian Society officer and has participated in over 16 school productions. Her greatest passions in life include puppies, Disney, Harry Potter, alliteration, and romantic British literature. Katcy believes she is a fantastic freestyle dancer, but most disagree with her, likening her dancing to “spastic flailing” and “uncoordinated floundering.” While she looks forward to attending college in fall 2012, she is downright depressed to be leaving Pres. She is always available for contact through Pres e-mail!

Natasha Azevedo

Natasha Azevedo is a senior (whoa!) at Presentation High School. This is her second year on the newspaper staff and she is really excited to be photo editor. She is involved in several activities on campus such as Students for Environmental Action, the National Art Honors Society, and Associated Student Body. She enjoys art, music, traveling, and frozen yogurt. If she could pick a dream career, she would be the photographer for Coastal Living so that she could travel to all the beaches across the world and take pictures. Natasha hopes to study International Relations next year at Harvard (hahaha right…) and pursue a career in diplomacy in a foreign country. She loves to be involved, so if you have any questions, aim them at Natasha!
