Every morning, he greets us with a grin, burritos, and hash browns.  Each lunch period, he supplies hundreds of girls with the food they need to get through fourth period and the rest of the day.  Without him, Presentation High School might just collapse with so many starving girls.  With the school practically dependent on this man, how could we not help but wonder what is going on in the mind of Apollo?  Well, here at The Voice, we decided to find out by means of his iPod.

“La Lettre” by Lara Fabian
The first song that comes up on Apollo’s iPod is a sweet, soft French song titled “La Lettre,” or “The Letter,” by Lara Fabian.  In this song about receiving a heart-rending, passionate, and bitterly truthful letter from a lover, it’s clear that Apollo has an appreciation for Fabian’s beautiful, calming, and melodic voice.  As this is the first of the five songs on which Apollo’s character must be judged, it is evident that one of the things he seeks most is respite, which he finds in listening to the Fabian’s charming music.  After all, who could blame Apollo for wanting a little rest after serving so many hungry mouths every day?  Another interesting facet of this song that must be considered is that it is sung solely in the French language.  Here, one must wonder what it is Pres does not know about Apollo’s past – perhaps some time spent in France or a secret love of the romantic language?

“Untitled” by Lara Fabian
The next song that plays as Apollo scrolls through his iPod is another melodic tune by Lara Fabian.  While the song lacks a title, Apollo quickly explains that he has some clips like these from Fabian that are shorter, but still beautiful, clips of her music.  With this simple but sweet artist showing up twice before any others, we can infer that Apollo truly does enjoy Fabian’s music, seeking rest from his long days.  Still, such dependence on this music might reveal that our very own externally cheerful Apollo may be overly or easily stressed just like Pres girls.

Can’t Get Blue Monday Out of My Head by Kylie Minogue
The third song on Apollo’s iPod is this fun, flirty and upbeat song about having a crush on someone. The music is very catchy and a great song to dance to. The lyrics of the song talk about the artist having a crush on a boy and feeling overwhelmed by this feeling. Being overwhelmed is something that Apollo can relate to. After a hard day of work with girls pushing and shoving in the lunch line, and shrieking at the top of his lungs “PITA BREAD,” Apollo deserves a little fun time. Apollo, being a little ball of energy, seems to like to dance off his worries instead of drowning in sorrow. This song shows that he is optimistic and a fun person to be around.

Besame Mucho by Dalida
In English, this song means “Kiss Me a Lot.” The original version of this song is done in a much slower and more romantic way. Dalida redid the song, keeping the same words, but adding more of a buoyant flare. The first thing we can tell from Apollo by this is that he exotic and can speak fluent Spanish. The lyrics of the song, though a little sad, are very romantic. Apollo seems to be optimistic and cheerful about his life and his music as assumed by the version of this song. He can be serious and romantic, but have fun doing it at the same time.

Whatever it Takes by Leona Lewis
Whatever it takes is an uplifting song that is about being successful and happy. It has a pop vibe with a little mix of soul. This inspirational song is right up Apollo’s alley. It is something that he can dance and have fun to, but also seek guidance in. Apollo used to be a dancer, so no wonder he likes fun and cheerful song. From dancing, we know that Apollo knows how to draw inspiration from everyday things. He can live his life to the fullest and is reminded to always be strong and do the best he can.
